Some Alberta municipalities actively support conservation easements, some municipalities hold conservation easements themselves, and some see them as problematic.

Despite this range of perspectives on the tool, there has never been a conservation easement resource targeted specifically at Alberta municipalities. The Corvus Centre created this Primer to provide fundamental information about conservation easements through the lens of a local government. It is comprehensive but structured to be easy to read and use, made up of common questions and answers.
