Nature Conservation for Municipal Leaders Survey

What is Most Important for Municipal Leaders to Learn About Stewarding Nature?

Alberta’s municipalities have a long history of nature stewardship. The MDPs and local government plans across the province are filled with references to stewardship, sustainability, natural resources, parks, open spaces, etc.

Yet it seems that there is little to no training opportunities for Alberta’s municipal leaders with regard to stewarding nature and maintaining the numerous community services it provides.

The Corvus Centre for Conservation Policy and Skyline Partners Ltd. have begun exploring whether there is a need for training of this type, and if so, what form that training should take to best meet the needs of Alberta municipalities.
